The opening stop of the 2018 European Freestyle Pro Tour was plagued with light winds, nevertheless an epic show of tow-in offered entertainment for the riders and the crowds. We captured the action and rolled out the highlights.
The best podium celebration we have ever seen. The final day gave us the crowning of the 2017 European Freestyle Pro Tour champions. Jacopo Testa takes his first European title, whilst Sarah-Quita Offringa takes her third and continues her dominance in the women’s sector. Testa had a dream year this year, National champion, European Champions and third in overall on the World Tour, the Italian is charging and leaves little room for improvement next year.
Tow-in rocked the crowds today with an impressive show right by the beach. The EFPT tried hard to continue on with the double elimination early in the day, however it was not to be as the competition area was deemed just that bit too light for fair competition to take place.
Action, action, action as the conditions continue to provide. The double elimination continued on until the winds faded, giving way to an impressive night tow-in show. Watch our highlight reel as the rockstars of European windsurfing enjoyed a day, and night, in the limelight.
The girls are in town. Joining the final stop of the mens tour, the girls take part in their own European Championships. A dream year for the tour as the final stop offers yet more great conditions. Check our highlights from today’s action.
Super-X windsurfing, ever seen it? Well check the highlights from the fourth and final day of the event in Lanzarote. Competition was over yesterday but the riders and crew took the opportunity to take to the water with some Super-X racing. The races involved a downwind slalom, around each mark the competitors had to duck gybe and a forward loop and spock had to be completed within the course area, finally jumping an inflatable sausage before blasting through the finish line. The sausage caused plenty of carnage…
The comeback of comebacks, Jacopo Testa achieved the near impossible as he progressed all the way through the double elimination beating progressively harder competitors to achieve an event victory to remember. Yet another mind-blowing moment in a year to remember on the 2017 European Freestyle Pro Tour. Check the full re-cap below.
Day 2 saw the riders launching into huge aerial moves as the waves began to build throughout the day. With the first double elimination win going to the Italian Jacopo Testa. Check our full highlights below.
It’s straight into action on the opening day of the 2017 EFPT Lanzarote event. Steven Van Broeckhoven, the most celebrated European Champion of all time, showed exactly why he is the guy to beat as he secured the single elimination victory with almost faultless style.
The best moves, the biggest moves, the most radical moves. Day 4 showed flat water freestyle windsurfing at it’s absolute peak. If yesterday was a day for the history books, today the history books just got rewritten. Sam Esteve flew to new heights as he threw down insane action during his heats. Despite having his best event to date, Esteve was pipped to the post as fellow Frenchmen Adrien Bosson took the event victory.
