Right so a quick update. I’ve had some really good sessions in Austria recently and now with the UK about to go off it looks like the sessions should just continue. I won’t write too much, just here are a few snaps.
I’ll be hitting up West Witterings tomorrow, Friday and most likely over the weekend as well. So see you one the water nice an early because I’m more excited than a child in an ice cream shop!

Totally and utterly stoked to be announcing this news. So after much uncertainty in the last few months with just about everything it seems that patience, time and effort have paid off and I’m super happy to say that I have officially joined the Patrik International team. Despite endless work to get on other international teams the opportunities never came about and I held myself back, not selling myself short to wait patiently for the right deal. So to finally sign on to a brand that is building a reputation amongst all the best sailors in the world as the boards to be on, is possibly the best feeling of all. I guess all the waiting, 1000’s of hours and euros and the commitment to the sport has been worth it.
My role in the brand will be to help bring the boards into the UK and show why they really are incredible! Having had to drop from RRD when my work started for Boards I had to choose a board brand I really knew was good, so jumped at the opportunity to get on the Patrik’s and now I have the pleasure of introducing them to a whole host of new feet. Watch this space…
In other news I’ve also signed to Flymount, who provide the best possible mount for windsurfing and most other action sports. I’ve already used it a lot and look forward to working with them on future projects and products. Some exciting developments coming from them…
So check out my new video below with my good friend Micho Alvarez, showing Dahab in a new light by Seb Godsmark.
Finally a special thanks to Wouter, Jai and Jem at SeaSpriteSports for the last few epic years! Now new adventures begin…
Being in Vienna has its advantages, a quick Lunch Break with nine friends down at the Bridge. In 15 minutes you can be sailing full power on a 10-15knot forecast! It’s an incredible place and awesome fun because everyone pushes each other a lot as you are all so close together. Although it is pretty busy when it goes above 5/6 people, this session was still really enjoyable and super stoked to see such a cool edit from Clemens and Felix, the Hauft brothers. Find out more on www.hauf.at. Sick angles, awesome moves and a cooool tune…
So it’s been a while in the making but I think the wait has been worth it. Bartek Jankowski who has already released a few epic clips put this one together for me. Feel free to like, rate, share, enjoy, etc…
The title is simply – Adam Sims Freestyling in Cape Town 2012
A massive thanks to BJ for producing it and also Hanna and Sam for doing a lot of the filming.
On another note there are a few changes going on my end with sponsors, etc… so feel free to hazard a guess and all will be reveled shortly!
Just a quick test edit from Seb Godsmark who is putting a video of myself and my friend Micho together. Quite a bit of time has gone into this with different types of effects so any feedback I’m sure is much appreciated (either leave a comment below or feel free to rate it, above).
The last few weeks seem to have flown by with epic session on the lake and under the bridge as well as the PWA World Cup event. Without updating too much in words check out a number of epic photos below. A special thanks to Martin Reiter and Hanna Poschinger for taking the time to capture the shots, this is just a sample…
A quick update of past, present and future
I’ve been in Austria for quite a while now, as many of you already know I competed in the first World Tour event of the year and was pretty happy with my result. It’s a good ‘starting’ point for me. The plan now is to push hard for sponsors, I’ve put a lot of time lately into giving myself the best possibly chance and now I’m keen to see it happen. My sponsorship proposal is all pimped up, should anyone particularly want to see it then fire me a quick request (adam.k669@live.co.uk – NB. new email address coming this week but that ‘old’ one will always reach me).
The next couple of months are all pretty uncertain but when I have news it will be passed on, there are some pretty exciting prospects though… For the summer, I’ve already booked my tickets for PWA Fuerte and EFPT Sigri. The plan is to finish top 16 at Sigri and top 20 in Fuerte.. or thereabouts.
Enough said, enjoy the pics and as I said, that’s just the beginning…
It’s been a while since my last video and there are now a couple in the pipeline. The first is almost finished – Freestyling in Cape Town. The second should be done in the next 2-3 weeks and is a video from a last minute trip to Egypt with Mauricio Alvarez and myself, for a bit of tanning the week before the World Cup.
For now here is the trailer for the first. Enjoy and feel free to share.
Edit by myself, Special Effects by Josh Willmot and the full video will be by Bartek Jankowski who has done a couple of recent epic videos on Adam Lewis.
So my 3rd ever PWA freestyle comp and probably the first time I’ve felt comfortable at one of them. I was pretty motivated to do quite well and felt like I had the moves I needed to do so. Yes it is no secret I’ve had a few sessions on the lake in the past months, but never from the direction the wind was during the event. Actually, it was the perfect forecast for sailing under the bridge in Vienna, which was a little gutting as the last time I was there it was epic! Here is the feature about it – boardseekermag.com/features

Back to the event then. Well it was hot, sunny and ok 5.2 weather. From what I have heard records have been set in the amount of people that showed up at the event and that was by the end of Tuesday! The event continues until Sunday and already the shops have sold more then they did in the entire time last year, in the same way that the event beat it’s records from previous year. I think that is a pretty sure sign that this will certainly be on calendars for years to come still.
Shaka, in my first heat. Photo – Continentseven.com
In terms of windsurfing, we had one good day of not so bad wind and then the rest of the time it was either non-existent or too gusty and light to run heats, despite a lot of attempts. Trust me, no one saw that more than myself. I sailed the first heat that got cancelled, then re-sailed and re-sailed again, then it was cancelled and the day was over, so we were the first to start the following day. We managed to sail the heat straight away. I was pretty stoked with the heat in the end as my score sheets were filled with 8/9’s, the highest I’ve ever had, by quite a bit. It was a motivating start but not really enough to beat my next opponent – Taty Frans. Although I sailed a solid port tack heat, my starboard tack let me down as I could only try/complete two moves due to the light winds. Something I should have mentioned perhaps after the heat. Although I have a sneaky feeling it wouldn’t have made too much difference… Again I was still happy with how I sailed, landing some of my better moves in both heats.

Then came the first attempts at the double, again I was lucky enough to be in the heat that got re-sailed four times. Each time I put down some good moves before it was cancelled, then when it finally came round to the one that counted I got super unlucky with the gusts, always timing it so that I would get up to speed and then already be right on the edge of the heat area. Not ideal when you also want to spot a bit of chop to take off, or a flat spot to spin in!
The Tow-in was a different story. Here is a cool picture though…

Anyway, all in all it was a good event and I’m super happy with my result, I had a pretty encouraging conversation with PWA head judge Duncan Coombes at the end of the event and I got to sail more heats than anyone…
Next up it is back to the UK for round 2 and 3 of the UKWA freestyle tour!
Currently in Austria and was lucky enough to get a nice Sunday afternoon session at the lake. A couple photos below and the rest can be found as a gallery on my facebook, check it out by clicking here. Conditions were up and down on 5.2 sometimes pretty well powered up, other times just floating about. Thanks to Hanna Poschinger and Nott Zechner for standing around in the cold to take photos.
Still struggling to find the time to do a round up from CT, so in the meantime here are a couple of snaps from this ‘secret’ spot that we went to. Actually it’s not that secret, just it doesn’t work too often and we had never been there before. There was no wind forecast in CT that day and it was raining, cloudy and we hadn’t had a good session in a few days. So after driving an hour into SA we came across the lake and had probably the best session of the trip. A video to follow soon, but for now, enjoy these snaps…
